The most common side effects are mild: gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, and skin rash from lion's mane; dizziness, dry mouth, nausea, and rash from reishi; constipation, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort from cordyceps.

Chaga carries a specific caution—there are rare reports of kidney failure linked to very high consumption because chaga contains high levels of oxalate, a compound that can accumulate in your kidneys. Pregnancy and breastfeeding: the safety data for all four checked mushrooms is insufficient, so it's best to avoid this product during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.
