Here's the thinking behind this pairing. Anagrelide already works to lower your platelet count, and it also has some mild platelet-blocking activity of its own. In test-tube studies, lion's mane appears to make platelets a little less sticky too. Put the two together and, at least on paper, you might tip slightly further toward easy bleeding or bruising.

I want to be honest about the strength of this: it's theoretical, based on lab research, not real patient reports. So I'm not ringing alarm bells. Still, since anagrelide is a serious medicine for a blood disorder, it's worth a quick word with your pharmacist or doctor before adding lion's mane. Keep an eye out for unusual bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums, and don't change your dose on your own.

What Is Anagrelide Used For?

Brand name: Agrylin

Anagrelide — sold as Agrylin and as generic anagrelide capsules — is used to treat thrombocythemia secondary to myeloproliferative neoplasms. That means it's prescribed when a bone marrow disorder causes the body to produce too many platelets, raising the risk of dangerous blood clots.

By bringing platelet counts down to a safer range, anagrelide also helps reduce related symptoms, including bleeding and clotting events (thrombo-hemorrhagic events).
