Does it work?
Couldn't assess
We don't have effectiveness data on file for Ailanthus Bark Extract for any particular health purpose. If you're considering this product for a specific reason, your pharmacist can help you weigh what evidence exists outside our records.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Human safety data for tree of heaven are limited. In large amounts, the bark has been reported to cause queasiness, dizziness, headache, tingling in the limbs, and diarrhea.
The plant can also irritate your stomach and skin. Pregnancy and breastfeeding: There isn't enough safety information to recommend this product during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Because tree of heaven has traditionally been used for effects on menstruation, pregnancy use raises particular concern. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using it if you're pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs are the medication type to double-check. In test-tube studies, tree of heaven extract reduces platelet clumping, which could theoretically raise bleeding risk, though this hasn't been observed in humans.
Run your exact medication through the checker below before you start.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Ailanthus Alcohol Free is a single-ingredient product with very limited human safety data. The main caution is with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs, where a theoretical risk of increased bleeding exists—though it hasn't been seen in people.

Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, tree of heaven extract might reduce platelet aggregation and increase the risk of bleeding if used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs. In vitro evidence shows that tree of heaven crude extract attenuates epinephrine and adenosine diphosphate-induced platelet aggregation. This interaction has not been seen in humans. Until more is known, use with caution in patients taking anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
