Andrographis is generally well tolerated in the short term, but long-term safety and product quality aren't well established. Most side effects — stomach discomfort, nausea, diarrhea, headache, fatigue, dizziness, rash, and itching — are mild and more likely at higher doses or beyond 2 weeks of use.

However, this reduced bioavailability is not correlated with a reduction in the anti-inflammatory effects of etoricoxib in arthritic mice models.
