Artemisia Supreme Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Artemisia Supreme against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Artemisia Supreme by Supreme Nutrition Products
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Artemisia Supreme is a single-ingredient product: sweet wormwood (also known as sweet annie). The capsule itself is made from vegetable cellulose, an inactive ingredient.
Sweet wormwood has been studied for allergies and liver disease, though the evidence for these uses varies. It contains artemisinin, a compound that's been investigated for malaria and other conditions.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Sweet wormwood is possibly effective for allergic rhinitis (hay fever). For nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, malaria, and osteoarthritis, the evidence we hold is insufficient to rate whether it works.
We're not saying it does or doesn't — just that the data isn't strong enough to tell.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Taken by mouth, sweet wormwood is generally well tolerated. The most common side effects are nausea and vomiting.
In rare cases, it may cause liver damage (hepatotoxicity); one documented case involved a patient who developed hepatitis after taking a related compound at high doses, with symptoms that resolved after stopping. A mild allergic reaction (rash and cough) has been reported once.
If you take this product sublingually (under the tongue) and are allergic to it, you may experience numbness of the tongue or throat itching. Sweet wormwood should not be used during pregnancy because of possible harm to a developing baby.
There isn't enough safety information to recommend it while breastfeeding — talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized guidance. This product is meant for short-term use and should not replace proven treatments.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking Artemisia Supreme, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take any hepatotoxic drugs (medications that stress the liver), or any drug broken down by the liver enzymes CYP3A4 or CYP2B6. This includes many common prescriptions across heart, immune, and nervous system medications.
The enzyme effects are unpredictable — sweet wormwood might raise or lower drug levels — so your specific medications need review.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Artemisia Supreme might help with allergic rhinitis, but the evidence for other uses is thin or unclear. The main caution is its interaction with liver-damaging drugs and drugs processed by your liver — that's a conversation to have with your doctor or pharmacist before you start.
It's not for pregnancy or breastfeeding, and short-term use is recommended.

Artemisia Supreme by Supreme Nutrition Products Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Artemisia Supreme contains sweet wormwood (also called sweet annie), which interacts with multiple medications.
The most serious documented concern involves hepatotoxic drugs — medications that can stress your liver. Using sweet wormwood alongside these drugs might add to that liver strain, and there's some evidence sweet wormwood itself can affect liver function, so this combination needs careful review.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Sweet wormwood may also change how your body processes drugs broken down by two liver enzymes: CYP3A4 and CYP2B6. The research is mixed — one compound in sweet wormwood (artemisinin) seems to speed up these enzymes, while the whole extract may slow them down.
Either way, this could shift how much of your medication stays in your bloodstream, potentially making it less or more effective. Altogether, these interactions span 890 individual medications.
Before you start this product, run your exact medications through the search tool on this page. If you take anything for your liver, heart, immune system, or any prescription drug at all, check with your doctor or pharmacist first.

Sweet Wormwood
Cytochrome P450 2B6 (Cyp2B6) Substrates
Sweet Annie may alter plasma levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP2B6.
In vitro research shows that the Sweet Annie constituent artemisinin induces CYP2B6, possibly increasing CYP2B6 activity by 1.6-fold. However, Sweet Annie extract seems to inhibit the activity of CYP2B6 in vitro, suggesting that other constituents of Sweet Annie play a role in its effects on the overall activity of this enzyme. More information is needed to determine whether taking Sweet Annie extract affects the metabolism of CYP2B6 substrates.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Sweet Annie may alter plasma levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that the Sweet Annie constituent artemisinin induces CYP3A4, possibly increasing CYP3A4 activity by 1.9-fold. However, Sweet Annie extract seems to inhibit the activity of CYP3A4 in vitro, suggesting that other constituents of Sweet Annie play a role in its effects on the overall activity of this enzyme. More information is needed to determine whether taking Sweet Annie extract affects the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.
Hepatotoxic Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use might have additive adverse hepatotoxic effects.
There is some concern that Sweet Annie can adversely affect the liver.
