This product contains one active ingredient: vitamin B12, a water-soluble vitamin your body needs for nerve function, red blood cell formation, and DNA synthesis. The tablet also includes inactive ingredients — dicalcium phosphate, stearic acid, croscarmellose, magnesium stearate, and silica — which are fillers and binders that give the tablet its structure.

Strong evidence
Vitamin B12 is effective for treating vitamin B12 deficiency and for a rare inherited condition called Imerslund-Grasbeck disease. It's also likely effective for cyanide poisoning.
The evidence supporting its use for canker sores and postherpetic neuralgia (nerve pain after shingles) is weaker — the data shows it as possibly effective for those conditions.
How safe is it?

B12 is generally very well tolerated when taken by mouth. Your body exerts excess B12 through urine, so there's no established upper limit — you won't accumulate toxic levels from supplementation.
