Baby Biotic Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by BioCare
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Baby Biotic against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Baby Biotic by BioCare
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Baby Biotic contains 3 active probiotic strains: Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, Bifidobacterium breve, and Bifidobacterium infantis. These are live beneficial bacteria that are meant to support digestive and immune health in infants.
The product also contains vegetable oil as an inactive ingredient to help deliver the bacteria.
Does it work?
Not established
The data we hold shows effectiveness ratings for Bifidobacterium breve only. For common infant concerns — antibiotic-associated diarrhea, allergies, and atopic disease — the evidence is insufficient to say whether it works.
For age-related cognitive decline and sepsis, B. breve appears possibly ineffective. We don't have effectiveness information on file for the other two strains in this product.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Bifidobacterium breve is generally well tolerated in healthy infants, but caution is needed if your baby is very ill or has a compromised immune system. Rare cases of Bifidobacterium bacteremia (bacteria in the bloodstream) have been reported in critically ill infants and preterm infants using probiotics, including B. breve.
Bloating and gas can occur with probiotics in general, though these haven't been specifically reported from B. breve. Because safety data are limited, talk with your pediatrician before starting this product, especially if your baby has serious illness or immune concerns.
Pregnancy and lactation safety information is not on file for these ingredients.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If your baby is taking antibiotic drugs, check with your pediatrician before using Baby Biotic — antibiotics can reduce how well the live bacteria in this product work. Separate the doses as directed by your healthcare provider.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Baby Biotic is a live probiotic intended for infants. It's generally well tolerated in healthy babies but requires caution and close medical oversight in very ill or immunocompromised infants.
The biggest concern is timing it away from antibiotics — ask your pediatrician how to space them out. Talk it over with your child's doctor before starting, especially if your baby has any underlying health conditions.

Baby Biotic by BioCare Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Baby Biotic by BioCare is a three-ingredient probiotic liquid.
We found interaction data for one of the three live bacterial strains: Bifidobacterium breve. This ingredient may interact with antibiotic drugs at a Moderate level.
Because B. breve contains live organisms, taking antibiotics at the same time might kill a significant number of them and reduce the probiotic's effectiveness. If your baby is on an antibiotic, it's best to space out doses — ask your pediatrician or pharmacist how much time to leave between them.

We could not check the other two active ingredients — Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG and Bifidobacterium infantis — because we hold no interaction data for them. Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.

Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium breve with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. breve.
Since B. breve preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. breve preparations by at least 2 hours.
