HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Vitamin B2 by BioCare
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: Vitamin B2, also called riboflavin. B2 is a B vitamin your body uses for energy and cell health.
The inactive ingredients are cellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, and magnesium stearate — standard capsule fillers and binders.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The product facts we hold don't include effectiveness ratings for Vitamin B2, so the evidence isn't established in our data. If you're curious whether it'll help with a specific concern — energy, migraines, or something else — that's a good question for your pharmacist or doctor.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Riboflavin is considered very safe; your body gets rid of excess amounts in your urine. It's generally well tolerated when taken by mouth.
The most common side effects are dose-related nausea and bright yellow urine — harmless, but noticeable. In a clinical study, one person out of 28 reported diarrhea and one reported increased urination after starting a high dose (400 mg daily), so these effects are rare.
Riboflavin is actually needed during pregnancy and breastfeeding and is generally safe at recommended amounts. If you're pregnant or nursing and thinking about a higher-dose supplement, check with your provider first.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take tetracycline antibiotics (such as doxycycline, minocycline, or tetracycline), double-check with your pharmacist before starting this supplement — there's a theoretical concern it may reduce how well they work. For any other medications, no interactions are documented in our data.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Vitamin B2 is a straightforward, well-tolerated B vitamin — a good pick if you're looking for basic nutritional support. The only real caution is if you're on a tetracycline antibiotic; run that combination by us first.
Otherwise, talk to your pharmacist if you have questions about whether it fits your situation.
