What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Banaba Leaf against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Banaba Leaf by Paradise
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: banaba leaf extract. Banaba is a plant used traditionally in herbal medicine, and the extract concentrates its active compounds.
The capsule itself is made from vegetarian material.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for banaba leaf extract isn't yet solid enough to rate. The data we hold shows insufficient reliable evidence for diabetes, prediabetes (impaired glucose tolerance), and metabolic syndrome — the main conditions it's used for.
That doesn't mean it doesn't work; it means the research so far hasn't been conclusive enough to say either way.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Banaba leaf extract is generally well tolerated in short-term studies, but we don't have much information about what happens if you take it long-term. Some people using a product that combined banaba with another plant reported dizziness, headache, tremor, weakness, stomach upset, sweating, heart palpitations, and dizziness — though it's unclear whether banaba itself was the cause or the other ingredient.
The safety data advises against using banaba during pregnancy and breastfeeding because there isn't enough information to know it's safe for either.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on blood pressure medications, diabetes medications, or any drugs that use the OATP transport system to be absorbed — all three are Moderate severity concerns with banaba.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Banaba leaf extract may be worth considering if you're interested in herbal approaches to blood sugar or blood pressure, but the evidence that it actually works is still being built. The bigger question for you: if you take any medication for blood pressure, blood sugar, or absorption-related conditions, you need to check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding this, because interactions are possible and could affect how well your drugs work.

Banaba Leaf by Paradise Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Banaba Leaf by Paradise contains banaba leaf extract, which interacts with blood pressure medications (antihypertensive drugs).
Because banaba can lower blood pressure on its own, taking it with these drugs could cause your blood pressure to drop too far — a Moderate severity concern.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
It also interacts with diabetes medications (antidiabetes drugs) in a similar way. Banaba appears to lower blood sugar, so combining it with drugs that do the same could drop your blood sugar more than intended — also Moderate severity.
Additionally, banaba may affect how your body absorbs certain medications that use a transport system called OATP (organic anion-transporting polypeptide substrates). In lab studies, banaba blocks this system, which could reduce how much of those drugs your body takes in.
This is also rated Moderate severity.
Because this product spans interactions across 299 individual medications, you'll want to check your exact prescriptions using the tool on this page before you start — especially if you take blood pressure or blood sugar medications.
