Here's the simple version: aliskiren (Tekturna) lowers your blood pressure, and banaba may nudge it down a little too. Put them together and the effects can stack up. So while aliskiren isn't broken down or activated by anything in banaba, the concern here is just additive, two things pushing in the same direction.

If your blood pressure drops too low, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or off-balance, especially when standing up quickly. Banaba is mostly studied for blood sugar, and the blood pressure piece comes from limited, lower-quality research, so this is more of a heads-up than a red alert. Still, if you'd like to try banaba, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first so they can keep an eye on your numbers.

What Is Aliskiren Used For?

Brand name: Tekturna

Aliskiren and Tekturna tablets are both approved to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and in children who are at least 6 years old and weigh 50 kg (about 110 lbs) or more. Lowering high blood pressure reduces the risk of serious events like strokes and heart attacks.

Managing blood pressure is usually part of a broader plan that may also include diet changes, exercise, cholesterol control, and other medications. Many people need more than one blood pressure drug to reach their goal.
