What’s inside
Full disclosure
This supplement contains a single active ingredient: beet powder at 1000 mg per capsule. Beet is a whole-food source of compounds including betanin (the pigment that gives beets their deep red color) and dietary nitrates, which are the active components tied to its effects on athletic performance and muscle recovery.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients — gelatin, rice flour, L-leucine, and silicon dioxide — which serve as a capsule shell, flow agent, and anti-caking material.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Research suggests beet powder may help with athletic performance and exercise-induced muscle soreness, earning a "Possibly Effective" rating for both. However, the evidence is limited, and the data we hold doesn't establish a strong case.
For other uses — including dyslipidemia (abnormal blood fat levels) and cognitive function — the evidence is insufficient to rate. For chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), beet is rated Possibly Ineffective.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Beet is widely eaten as a food and is generally well tolerated in most adults. As a food source, it's safe — but concentrated supplements lack robust safety data, so use caution if you choose to take this product.
Most people who use beet supplements short term experience no problems. Common side effects are harmless: red or dark stools and red urine, caused by beet pigment passing through your digestive tract.
Rare serious effects with large amounts include low blood calcium (hypocalcemia) and kidney damage. There's also an isolated case report of a person on blood thinners who experienced black stools and nausea after taking beet pills, though the risk of serious bleeding was judged to be low.
Lactation safety data isn't on file for beet.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this supplement, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take CYP3A4 substrates (a major group including certain statins, immunosuppressants, some cancer drugs, and many others) — beet may raise their levels. Also double-check if you're on blood pressure medications, because beet's nitrate content could amplify their effect.
Finally, if you take CYP1A2 substrates, beet may lower their effectiveness.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Beet Root 1000 mg may interest you if you're looking to support athletic performance or reduce exercise-related muscle soreness, though the evidence is modest. If you take any prescription medications — especially those metabolized by your liver — you'll want to check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting, because beet can affect how several drug groups work.
Talk it over with your own healthcare provider to make sure it's the right choice for you.

Beet Root 1000 mg by Double Wood Supplements Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Beet Root 1000 mg by Double Wood Supplements interacts with medications through its beet powder content, which affects how your body processes certain drugs.
The most serious concern is with CYP3A4 substrates (a large group of medications metabolized by a liver enzyme) — beet contains betanin, a pigment that can slow down how your liver breaks down these drugs, potentially raising their levels in your blood to unsafe ranges. This is a Moderate severity interaction.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Beet also affects two other drug groups. It may theoretically lower the blood levels and effectiveness of CYP1A2 substrates (Minor severity), because in lab studies beet appears to speed up the enzyme that clears these drugs.
Additionally, because beet contains nitrates that relax blood vessels, it could lower blood pressure — a Minor severity concern — though clinical studies on beetroot juice have been mixed, and some found no significant effect on blood pressure or heart rate.
Altogether, these interactions span 862 individual medications. Use the search tool below to check your exact prescriptions before starting this supplement, and talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's safe for you to take alongside what you're currently on.

For each ingredient in Beet Root 1000 mg with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Beet, Powder
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, beet might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that betanin, the major pigment in beet, competitively inhibits CYP3A4 in a dose-dependent manner similarly to strong CYP3A4 inhibitor ketoconazole.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Beet and beetroot contain nitrates, which can cause vasodilation, potentially leading to lower blood pressure. However, a study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition using concentrated beetroot juice found no significant impact on blood pressure or heart rate in different age groups. Other small clinical studies suggest that while beet consumption might transiently lower blood pressure due to vessel dilation, there's no consistent evidence of a lasting effect. Overall, the theoretical risk of reduced blood pressure due to beet's nitrate content exists, but studies generally indicate a low and temporary impact rather than a sustained decrease.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, beet might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that beet induces CYP1A2 enzymes.
