Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: benfotiamine, a fat-soluble form of thiamine (vitamin B1). The inactive ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, modified cellulose, magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide—standard capsule fillers and binders.

Does it work?

Moderate evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Moderate

Some clinical evidence supports this product's ingredients for its stated purpose, but it isn't conclusive.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: supports healthy nerve function.
  • We looked for evidence on: Diabetic neuropathy, Peripheral neuropathy, neuropathic pain, nerve health.
  • The strongest evidence on file: Benfotiamine is rated "Possibly Effective" for Diabetic neuropathy (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Benfotiamine is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Peripheral neuropathy.

Benfotiamine is possibly effective for diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage from high blood sugar). For diabetic kidney disease (nephropathy), the evidence suggests it's possibly ineffective.

For alcohol use disorder, Alzheimer disease, and general peripheral neuropathy, we don't have enough reliable evidence to say whether it works or not.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Benfotiamine is generally well tolerated in the studies we have, but long-term safety hasn't been fully worked out yet. In one 6-week trial of 98 people taking 300–600 mg daily, a small number reported allergic skin reactions and a small number reported mild stomach discomfort—rates that didn't differ from placebo.

There isn't enough safety data on breastfeeding, so caution is advised if you're nursing. Pregnancy safety data isn't on file for this ingredient—talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you if you're pregnant or planning to be.
