This product contains two active ingredients: riboflavin (also called vitamin B2) and a boron complex. Riboflavin is a B vitamin your body needs for energy production and cell health.
Boron is a trace mineral that plays a role in bone and joint function. The capsule itself is made from vegetable cellulose, with microcrystalline cellulose as an inactive filler.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Boron deficiency can be corrected with boron supplementation. There's also possibly effective evidence for boron in treating vaginal yeast infections (candidiasis) and radiation dermatitis (skin damage from radiation therapy).
However, boron is not effective for athletic performance. We don't have effectiveness data on file for riboflavin in this product.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Riboflavin is very well tolerated; your body gets rid of excess in your urine. At normal recommended doses, it's safe during pregnancy and while breastfeeding — it's actually needed at both times.
However, the safety data for boron differs by life stage: boron is possibly unsafe in pregnancy (high amounts may harm the fetus) and should be avoided while breastfeeding due to limited safety information. At this 3 mg dose, boron is generally well tolerated when taken orally.
Side effects at low doses are uncommon but can include nausea, stomach upset, skin irritation, or — with riboflavin especially — bright yellow urine. High doses of boron (well above this supplement) can cause more serious effects, but this product's dose is below that threshold.
