Candida Control Advanced contains 11 active ingredients: several species of live probiotic bacteria (Bacillus coagulans, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus delbrueckii, and Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus salivarius, and Streptococcus thermophilus), plus lactoferrin, a protein found naturally in milk and other body secretions. The probiotics are meant to support your gut bacteria balance, while lactoferrin plays a role in iron binding and immune function.
The product also includes inactive ingredients — binders and capsule materials like hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, pectin, gellan gum, and silicon dioxide.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for what this product actually does is limited and mixed across its ingredients. Lactobacillus acidophilus has possibly effective evidence for irritable bowel syndrome, Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
Bacillus coagulans and Bifidobacterium bifidum are possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome. Lactoferrin is possibly effective for sepsis and pregnancy-related iron deficiency.
For the other conditions these ingredients are sometimes promoted for — including Candida overgrowth, which isn't listed as an indication for any of them — we either don't have good evidence or the evidence we do have rates the ingredient as ineffective. How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The probiotic bacteria in this product are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. However, the safety data overall are limited and vary by ingredient.
Live probiotics do carry a theoretical risk of causing infection in patients with weakened immune systems, central lines or catheters, severe illness, or prematurity — cases of bacteremia and sepsis have been reported, though they're rare and usually occur in those high-risk groups rather than in otherwise healthy people. Lactoferrin is generally well tolerated at typical doses, but higher doses (7.2 grams daily) have been linked to constipation, diarrhea, anorexia, fatigue, and chills.
Gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, flatulence, and abdominal discomfort have been reported with probiotic use, though they're uncommon. Pregnancy and lactation safety hasn't been fully established for most of these ingredients, so talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you're pregnant or nursing.

Candida Control Advanced by BIOVEA contains several probiotic bacteria, and a number of them interact with antibiotics.
The most serious concern is Moderate in severity: when you take antibiotics at the same time as Bacillus coagulans, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, or Lactobacillus delbrueckii, the antibiotics may kill enough of the live organisms in the supplement to make it ineffective. LactoSpore Bacillus coagulans
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking antibiotics with Bacillus coagulans might decrease the effectiveness of B. coagulans.
B. coagulans preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. coagulans preparations by at least two hours.
B. bifidum
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium. bifidum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. bifidum.
Since B. bifidum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. bifidum preparations by at least 2 hours.
B. longum
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium longum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. longum.
