Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This gummy has 2 active ingredients: L-theanine and cannabidiol (CBD), derived from hemp extract. L-theanine is an amino acid that occurs naturally in tea and is thought to support calm focus.
The product also contains inactive ingredients like maltitol (a sweetener), gelatin, water, and medium-chain triglycerides.
Does it work?
Not established
L-theanine is possibly effective for cognitive function according to our data. For age-related cognitive decline, Alzheimer disease, generalized anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and cancer, the evidence isn't established enough to rate.
We don't hold effectiveness data on cannabidiol or hemp extract for this product.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
L-theanine is generally well tolerated in healthy adults for short-term use, but long-term safety hasn't been well studied. Reported side effects include headaches, drowsiness, longer sleep, and increased dreaming.
A pediatric case of facial tics was reported, though it wasn't confirmed to be caused by the supplement. The safety data advises against use during pregnancy and breastfeeding—there isn't enough data to know if it's safe for the developing baby or nursing infant.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this, check your blood pressure medications (antihypertensives)—L-theanine can potentiate their effect. Also double-check any sedatives, sleep aids, or other CNS depressants, and any serotonergic drugs like antidepressants.
We couldn't check the CBD or hemp extract ingredients against medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you take blood pressure medication, talk to your pharmacist before starting this gummy—L-theanine can lower blood pressure further. If you're on sedatives, antidepressants, or other brain-active drugs, check with us first.
Pregnant or breastfeeding? There's not enough safety data, so discuss it with your doctor or pharmacist.

CBD Natural BlackBerry Flavor by vitafusion Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Vitafusion's CBD Natural BlackBerry Flavor gummy contains L-theanine, which has documented interactions with certain medications.
The most serious concern is with blood pressure medications (antihypertensives): L-theanine may lower blood pressure on its own, and combining it with your blood pressure drug could push your pressure too low. This is a Moderate-severity interaction.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
L-theanine also has Minor interactions with CNS depressants—sedatives, sleep aids, and anxiety medications—where it might add to drowsiness, though it's unclear how often this matters in practice. It can theoretically affect serotonergic drugs (antidepressants, certain pain medications), though clinical reports of actual serotonin-related problems from L-theanine are absent.
We could not check cannabidiol (CBD) or hemp extract for interactions—we hold no data for those ingredients. Altogether, these interactions span 563 individual medications.
Use the medication checker on this page to look up your specific drugs before you start.

For each ingredient in CBD Natural BlackBerry Flavor with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Hemp extract
Estrogens
Theoretically, hemp might interfere with hormone therapy due to its estrogenic effects.
In an ovariectomized animal model, a diet containing hemp seed 1%, 2%, or 10% resulted in normalized plasma levels of 17-beta-estradiol. The mechanism of action for this effect is unclear.
Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)
Theoretically, consuming hemp seed protein isolate with ACE inhibitors might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Hemp seed protein hydrolysate has shown ACE inhibitor-like effects in a hypertensive animal model. However, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans. Until more is known, monitor blood pressure and potassium levels.
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, hemp seed might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
In animal research, hemp seed at 5% of the diet inhibits platelet aggregation in vitro. However, in human research, taking hemp seed oil 2 grams daily for 12 weeks does not inhibit the aggregation of platelets in vitro.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, hemp seed protein may have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
In a hypertensive animal model, hemp seed protein hydrolysate reduced systolic blood pressure by a mechanism possibly involving the inhibition of renin and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activities. However, there was no effect of hemp seed protein on blood pressure in normotensive animals. Furthermore, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP1A2 enzymes.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP3A4 enzymes.
L-Theanine
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theanine might lower blood pressure, potentiating the effects of antihypertensive drugs.
Animal research shows that theanine can lower blood pressure in spontaneously hypertensive animals. Theoretically, concomitant use of theanine and antihypertensive drugs might potentiate the antihypertensive activity.
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, theanine might have additive sedative effects when used in conjunction with CNS depressants. However, it is unclear if this concern is clinically relevant.
Theoretically, theanine may compete with glutamate and/or increase plasma gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) levels, which could cause CNS depression. In one clinical study, some subjects taking oral theanine reported drowsiness.
Serotonergic Drugs
Clinical studies regarding the effects of L-theanine on serotonin levels are conflicting. Some studies suggest it can increase serotonin levels in the brain while others report that it may decrease them. Nevertheless, there have been no reports of l-theanine being a causative agent in serotonergic-related side effects or serotonin syndrome.
