Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This formula has three active ingredients. Lactobacillus acidophilus is a probiotic — a live beneficial bacterium that supports digestive and immune function.
Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) are a type of fiber that acts as a prebiotic, meaning it feeds the good bacteria already in the gut. Bifidobacterium animalis lactis is another probiotic strain.
The product also contains inactive ingredients including hypromellose, rice maltodextrin, magnesium stearate, and purified water — these are excipients that help form and preserve the capsule.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for L. acidophilus shows it's possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis. It's rated possibly ineffective for atopic disease and insufficient evidence exists to rate it for acute respiratory distress syndrome.
For FOS, the data we hold doesn't establish effectiveness — we have insufficient evidence to rate it for osteoporosis, constipation, diabetes, travelers' diarrhea, or high cholesterol. Effectiveness claims for Bifidobacterium animalis lactis aren't in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy children. Mild gastrointestinal side effects like stomach discomfort, bloating, gas, and diarrhea can happen when taking probiotics, but they're uncommon.
In rare cases, L. acidophilus has been linked to serious infections in certain patient groups, though most occur when bacteria from the gut leak into the bloodstream — this is thought to be very uncommon in otherwise healthy people. FOS is well tolerated in food amounts but can cause gas, bloating, and abdominal discomfort, especially at higher doses; data on supplement-level dosing are limited.
No pregnancy or lactation safety data are on file for any ingredient in this formula — talk with your pediatrician or pharmacist for guidance if you're considering it for a nursing infant or child.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check any antibiotic drugs your child is taking before starting this product — you'll want to space doses several hours apart. We have no documented interactions for FOS, and we couldn't check Bifidobacterium animalis lactis against our database.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This formula may help children with certain digestive issues, especially if antibiotics aren't being given at the same time. The main thing to watch is spacing doses away from any antibiotics your child takes.
Gas and bloating can happen, but usually mild. Run your child's medications through the checker below, and ask your pediatrician or pharmacist whether this is the right fit for your child's health.

Children's Probiotics Formula by CATALO Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
CATALO Children's Probiotics Formula contains Lactobacillus acidophilus, which has documented interactions with one medication type.
The main concern is antibiotic drugs — taking L. acidophilus at the same time as antibiotics may reduce how well the probiotic works. That's because antibiotics can kill off the live bacteria in the formula.
The fix is straightforward: space out when you take them, ideally a few hours apart.

Lactobacillus acidophilus
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
