What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains 3 active ingredients. Alpha-glycerylphosphorylcholine (alpha-GPC) and citicoline are both brain-supporting compounds that supply building blocks your cells use.
Dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE, also called deanol) is a compound thought to help raise acetylcholine, a chemical your brain uses for focus and memory. The capsule also contains inactive ingredients — mannitol, cellulose, maltodextrin, magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide — which are fillers and binders that help hold the capsule together.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
For alpha-GPC, the evidence points to possibly effective for Alzheimer disease, but the evidence for brain tumor, cognitive function, stroke, and vascular dementia isn't established enough to rate. Citicoline shows possibly effective evidence for age-related cognitive decline and glaucoma, though it appears possibly ineffective for stroke; evidence for Alzheimer disease, traumatic brain injury, and cardiac arrest hasn't been established.
DMAE appears likely ineffective for Alzheimer disease and tardive dyskinesia (a movement disorder), and evidence is insufficient for aging skin, athletic performance, and ADHD.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
All three ingredients are generally well tolerated in studies, but long-term safety hasn't been fully established for any of them. Alpha-GPC and citicoline carry advisory to avoid unless your doctor directs otherwise, because safety data is limited.
For DMAE, evidence is too limited to rely on, and animal research raises some concern. Alpha-GPC has rarely caused dizziness, headache, insomnia, nausea, heartburn, and diarrhea — and use for 2 months or longer has been associated with an elevated stroke risk compared to non-users or shorter-term use.
Citicoline may cause headache, insomnia, back pain, nausea, blurred vision, and diarrhea. DMAE may cause abdominal cramps, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, and headache; at high doses (over 1000 mg daily) it's been reported to cause mood changes in people with psychiatric conditions.
Meds to double-check
Minor interactions only
Before taking this product, run a search for any cholinergic drugs or anticholinergic medications you take — DMAE may theoretically change how they work (Minor severity for both). Also check for scopolamine (Transderm Scop) patches, as alpha-GPC might theoretically reduce their effects (Minor severity).
No interactions are documented for citicoline among the ingredients we could check.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Only minor medication interactions are documented, and safety information is well characterized.
This product brings together three ingredients with different evidence profiles — one possibly effective for Alzheimer disease (alpha-GPC) and age-related decline (citicoline), but one that appears likely ineffective (DMAE). If you take any prescription medications, especially motion sickness patches, cholinergic drugs, or anticholinergic drugs, check with your pharmacist before starting.
Long-term safety data is limited across all three ingredients.

Choline Complex + DMAE by Cognitive Compounds Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Choline Complex + DMAE by Cognitive Compounds contains three active ingredients with some documented interactions.
The most serious concern is with dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE), which may theoretically increase the effects and side effects of cholinergic drugs (medications that boost acetylcholine, a brain chemical) — a Minor severity interaction. DMAE may also theoretically decrease how anticholinergic drugs work, though this is also Minor severity.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Alpha-glycerylphosphorylcholine (alpha-GPC) carries a Minor interaction with scopolamine (Transderm Scop, a motion sickness patch). A small study suggests alpha-GPC might partially counteract scopolamine's effects on attention and memory, though it's unclear whether this would reduce its motion sickness benefits.
Citicoline, the third ingredient, has no interactions documented in our data. Altogether, these interactions span 218 individual medications.
