What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: cordyceps mushroom (Cordyceps militaris). The capsule also holds inactive ingredients—silica and cellulose as binders and fillers, and a plant-derived capsule shell.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence on cordyceps is mixed and mostly limited. For athletic performance, the data suggests it's possibly ineffective.
For sexual dysfunction, asthma, COPD, arrhythmia, and lung cancer, there isn't enough reliable evidence in our data to say whether it works or not. If you're considering cordyceps for any of these uses, it's worth talking to your doctor about what the current research actually supports.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Cordyceps is generally well tolerated when taken short-term, though the long-term safety record is thin and product quality can vary a lot. The most common side effects from studies are mild—abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, and constipation—and often improve if you take it after eating.
Dry mouth and throat discomfort have also been reported but are uncommon. One case report describes hepatitis (liver inflammation) that may have been linked to a cordyceps product, though it's unclear whether cordyceps itself or a contaminant was responsible; the person recovered once they stopped.
There isn't enough safety data to use cordyceps during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you're pregnant, nursing, or planning to become pregnant, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking Cordyceps 1000 mg, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take blood thinners (anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs like warfarin or aspirin), immune-suppressing medications (such as cyclosporine), or testosterone supplements or hormone therapy. No interactions are documented for other drug types in our data, but your pharmacist can help you review your complete medication list.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Cordyceps is a single-ingredient supplement generally well tolerated short-term, but the evidence for what it actually does is weak or absent for most uses. The main medication concerns are blood thinners, immune-suppressing drugs, and testosterone.
If you take any prescription medication, check your exact drugs with the search tool on this page, then confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.

Cordyceps 1000 mg by Nature's Way Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Cordyceps 1000 mg by Nature's Way may interact with medications.
The main concern is through its cordyceps mushroom content, which carries Moderate-severity risks with blood thinners (anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs) and immune-suppressing medications, plus a Minor risk with testosterone.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
With blood thinners like warfarin or aspirin, cordyceps may theoretically raise your bleeding risk. Lab and animal work suggests it can slow how platelets clump, but this hasn't been proven in people yet.
If you take any blood thinner, this is worth checking before you start.
With immune-suppressing drugs (like cyclosporine), cordyceps may interfere with how well they work—animal and lab studies hint that it boosts immune function, which could oppose what these medications are meant to do. If you take an immunosuppressant, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before adding cordyceps.
Cordyceps may also theoretically add to the effects of testosterone supplements or hormone therapy, though the real-world significance is unclear. Altogether, these interactions span 249 individual medications.

Cordyceps (Cordyceps militaris) Mushroom
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, cordyceps may increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
In vitro and animal research suggests that cordyceps extract inhibits platelet aggregation and function. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, concurrent use of cordyceps might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
Animal and in vitro research suggests that cordyceps stimulates the immune system. However, limited clinical research suggests that taking cordyceps may lower the necessary therapeutic dose of the immunosuppressant cyclosporine, which suggests that cordyceps may have an immunosuppressive effect.
Testosterone
Theoretically, concurrent use of cordyceps and testosterone might have additive effects.
Animal research suggests that cordyceps can increase testosterone levels. The clinical significance of this finding is unclear.
