HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Cordyceps Sinensis Extract by Absonutrix
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: cordyceps sinensis extract, a fungus used in traditional medicine. It also contains inactive ingredients—cellulose, maltodextrin, rice powder, and magnesium stearate—which are fillers and binders that help form the capsule.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence here is limited. Cordyceps is rated possibly ineffective for athletic performance.
For sexual dysfunction, arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat), asthma, lung cancer, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), we don't have enough reliable evidence to say whether it works or not. If you're considering it for one of these reasons, talk with your pharmacist about what the research actually supports.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Cordyceps is generally well tolerated when used short-term, though the safety data is incomplete and product quality varies widely. The most common side effects in trials—abdominal discomfort, constipation, and diarrhea—were uncommon and sometimes went away when people took it with food.
There's one case report of liver inflammation (hepatitis) possibly linked to a cordyceps product, though it's unclear whether cordyceps itself or a contaminant was responsible. There isn't enough safety data to know whether cordyceps is safe in pregnancy or while breastfeeding, so the data advises against use during those times.
Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start, double-check with your pharmacist if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (Moderate severity)—cordyceps may increase bleeding risk. Also check if you're on immunosuppressants like cyclosporine (Moderate severity) or testosterone therapy (Minor severity), as cordyceps could have additive or interfering effects.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Cordyceps may be worth considering if you're looking for general support, but the evidence for most conditions is weak or missing. If you take blood thinners, immunosuppressants, or testosterone therapy, check with your pharmacist first—cordyceps could interfere.
Product quality varies, so choose a reputable brand, and know that side effects are usually mild.

Cordyceps Sinensis Extract by Absonutrix Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Absonutrix Cordyceps Sinensis Extract contains one active ingredient—cordyceps extract—which has documented interactions with a few drug categories.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel). Test-tube and animal studies suggest cordyceps may increase bleeding risk by interfering with how platelets clump together, though this hasn't been reported in humans yet.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Cordyceps may also interfere with immunosuppressive medications, particularly cyclosporine. Animal research hints that cordyceps stimulates your immune system, which could theoretically reduce how well these drugs work.
Additionally, because cordyceps may raise testosterone levels in animal studies, taking it alongside testosterone therapy could have additive effects—though the real-world significance of this is unclear.
Altogether, these interactions span 245 individual medications. Use the search tool on this page to check your exact prescriptions before starting this product.

Cordyceps sinensis Extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, cordyceps may increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
In vitro and animal research suggests that cordyceps extract inhibits platelet aggregation and function. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, concurrent use of cordyceps might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
Animal and in vitro research suggests that cordyceps stimulates the immune system. However, limited clinical research suggests that taking cordyceps may lower the necessary therapeutic dose of the immunosuppressant cyclosporine, which suggests that cordyceps may have an immunosuppressive effect.
Testosterone
Theoretically, concurrent use of cordyceps and testosterone might have additive effects.
Animal research suggests that cordyceps can increase testosterone levels. The clinical significance of this finding is unclear.
