The evidence for Kyo-Dophilus is mixed and incomplete. Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome and respiratory tract infections, but we don't have enough reliable evidence to rate it for hay fever, Alzheimer disease, or anxiety.
Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus gasseri have insufficient evidence for the conditions we've evaluated them against — including cognitive decline, hay fever, asthma, and common cold. How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy people. Both Bifidobacterium strains are possibly safe during pregnancy and lactation (though data are limited).
Lactobacillus gasseri is also possibly safe in pregnancy and lactation, but the safety evidence is incomplete. Reported side effects are uncommon and usually mild — bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and in rare cases a dry cough or constipation.
However, people with weakened immune systems, serious illness, or recent surgery should be cautious and check with their doctor first, since there are rare reports of these bacteria causing serious infections in critically ill or immune-compromised patients.

Bifidobacterium bifidum G9-1
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium. bifidum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. bifidum.
Since B. bifidum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. bifidum preparations by at least 2 hours.

Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium longum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. longum.
Since B. longum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. longum preparations by at least 2 hours.
Lactobacillus gasseri KS-13
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus gasseri with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. gasseri.
Lactobacillus gasseri preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. gasseri preparations by at least two hours.
