Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains 2 active ingredients. Larch arabinogalactan (listed as ImmunEnhancer) and beta-glucans (beta-1,3/1,6-D-glucan powder) are both soluble fibers thought to support immune function.
The capsule also holds inactive ingredients — hypromellose, cellulose, silicon dioxide, and magnesium stearate — which are standard binders and flow agents.
Does it work?
Not established
For larch arabinogalactan, the evidence we hold shows insufficient reliable data to rate its effect on common cold or cholesterol. For beta-glucans, the data suggests they're likely effective for lowering cholesterol and supporting heart health — that's the stronger evidence base here.
If you're taking this mainly for colds or general immunity, understand the research isn't settled on whether it helps.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Beta-glucans from food are generally well tolerated, but concentrated supplement doses lack long-term safety data — use caution. Larch arabinogalactan is also generally well tolerated as a fiber, though some people experience bloating and gas.
One clinical trial of beta-glucans in children found one case of mild, temporary liver enzyme elevation. For pregnancy and lactation, safety data are too limited — talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before starting, double-check if you take immunosuppressant drugs (used after transplant or for severe autoimmune disease) — this product may interfere with them (Moderate risk). Also flag any blood pressure medications; beta-glucans may lower blood pressure further.
Use the medication checker below with your exact prescriptions.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product may help with cholesterol and heart health, but it's not proven for colds. The key concern is immunosuppressant and blood pressure medications — if you take either, check with your pharmacist first.
Bloating or gas is possible. It's generally well tolerated otherwise, but long-term safety data on the supplement dose are thin.

Formula
Beta-1,3/1,6-D-Glucan (Beta-Glucans) is a bioactive carbohydrate derived from the cell wall of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, commonly known as Bakers' yeast. Scientific studies have shown that Beta-1,3/1,6-D-Glucan supports a healthy immune system through its ability to maintain several aspects of the body’s normal immune functions. NOW Extra Strength Beta-Glucans is completed with ImmunEnhancer, a high molecular weight polysaccharide extracted from the larch tree that has been studied for its ability to promote a healthy immune response.
