ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Iloprost
Iloprost falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Beta-glucans interacts with.
Clinical research shows that taking beta-glucans may reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure in some hypertensive individuals.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the basic idea with these two together. Iloprost (Ventavis) is an inhaled vasodilator, meaning it relaxes and widens your blood vessels to ease the pressure in your lungs. On its own, it can sometimes lower your overall blood pressure too, which may show up as dizziness, lightheadedness, flushing, or even fainting when you stand up.
Oat and barley beta-glucans may gently nudge blood pressure down in some people, so stacking them with Iloprost could theoretically add to that drop. I want to be honest though, this is based on weak, anecdotal evidence, and food amounts of oats or barley are very unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated supplements are the bigger question. Before starting one, just run it by your doctor or pharmacist, especially if you already feel dizzy on Iloprost.

About Beta-glucans
What is Beta-glucans?
- High cholesterol
- Heart health
- Immune support
- Blood sugar control
- Wound care (topical)
Beta-glucans are natural fibers found in oats, barley, mushrooms, and yeast. The strongest evidence supports the oat and barley types for modestly lowering cholesterol and blood sugar, while immune-related claims from yeast and mushroom sources are far less proven. They are generally well tolerated, but check with your pharmacist before starting any supplement.

Iloprost Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Iloprost as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Beta-glucans — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
