False Unicorn Non-Alcohol by Hawaii Pharm Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
False Unicorn Non-Alcohol by Hawaii Pharm does interact with medications.
The main concern is that false unicorn extract inhibits two liver enzymes—CYP2D6 and CYP3A4—which clear a large number of drugs from your body. When these enzymes are slowed down, those drugs can build up to higher levels in your bloodstream.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
CYP2D6 substrates affected include certain antidepressants (amitriptyline, desipramine), antipsychotics (clozapine), pain relievers (codeine, fentanyl), and others like donepezil for memory and flecainide for heart rhythm. CYP3A4 substrates span calcium channel blockers (diltiazem, nicardipine, verapamil) used for blood pressure and heart conditions, and several chemotherapy drugs (etoposide, paclitaxel, vinblastine, vincristine, vindesine).
Both interactions are rated Moderate severity.
Additionally, false unicorn may have mild diuretic properties—meaning it can increase urine output—which might lower how much lithium your body excretes, potentially raising lithium levels. That's also Moderate severity and could require a dose adjustment.
Allogether, these interactions span 730 individual medications. Use the medication checker on this page to look up your exact prescriptions before starting.

wild harvested False Unicorn extract
Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates
In vitro, false unicorn extract inhibits cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) activity. Theoretically, false unicorn might increase the levels of CYP2D6 substrates. Some of drugs that are CYP2D6 substrates include amitriptyline (Elavil), clozapine (Clozaril), codeine, desipramine (Norpramin), donepezil (Aricept), fentanyl (Duragesic), flecainide (Tambocor), fluoxetine (Prozac), meperidine (Demerol), methadone (Dolophine), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), olanzapine (Zyprexa), ondansetron (Zofran), tramadol (Ultram), trazodone (Desyrel), and others.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
In vitro, false unicorn extract inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) activity. Theoretically, false unicorn might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates. Drugs that might be affected include some calcium channel blockers (diltiazem, nicardipine, verapamil), chemotherapeutic agents (etoposide, paclitaxel, vinblastine, vincristine, vindesine), antifungals (ketoconazole, itraconazole), glucocorticoids, cisapride (Propulsid), alfentanil (Alfenta), fentanyl (Sublimaze), losartan (Cozaar), fluoxetine (Prozac), midazolam (Versed), omeprazole (Prilosec), ondansetron (Zofran), propranolol (Inderal), fexofenadine (Allegra), and numerous others.
Lithium
False unicorn is thought to have diuretic properties. Theoretically, due to these potential diuretic effects, false unicorn might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium. The dose of lithium might need to be decreased.
