What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Gentian against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: certified organic gentian extract in liquid form. The extract comes suspended in vegetable palm glycerin, pharmaceutical-grade alcohol, and artesian Hawaiian purified water.
Does it work?
Not established
The data we hold does not establish reliable evidence for gentian's effectiveness for wound healing, obesity, gastritis, or rhinosinusitis (sinus inflammation). Each of these uses is rated as having insufficient reliable evidence.
That doesn't mean gentian won't help—it means the studies available aren't robust enough yet to say it does.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Gentian is generally well tolerated in small amounts, but it can upset your stomach, especially in larger doses where safety hasn't been well studied. In a trial combining gentian tincture with turmeric and ginger, a handful of participants stopped taking it because of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or bloating.
The safety data advises against gentian during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take any blood pressure medications (antihypertensive drugs)—including ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, or diuretics—check your exact medications with the search tool on this page before starting gentian. The combination could lower your blood pressure too much.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Gentian may be worth considering if you're exploring herbal digestive support, but there's not enough reliable evidence yet to confirm it works for the conditions listed. The main caution is with blood pressure medications—gentian may lower your pressure further.
If you take any blood pressure drug, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this product. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, skip it and talk it over with your healthcare provider first.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
