Healthy Gut Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Ombre
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Healthy Gut against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Healthy Gut by Ombre
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This 8-ingredient product is built around live probiotics — beneficial bacteria and yeast meant to support your gut. The active ingredients are three Lactobacillus strains (helveticus, rhamnosus, and acidophilus), one Enterococcus strain (faecium), Lactobacillus paracasei, Saccharomyces boulardii yeast, Lactobacillus plantarum, and Bifidobacterium animalis lactis.
They're stabilized in a capsule with inactive ingredients like hypromellose (a capsule material), water, and Sunfiber (a prebiotic fiber).
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence is mixed. Saccharomyces boulardii shows up as possibly effective for rotaviral diarrhea (the kind kids often get), travelers' diarrhea, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and a couple of serious gut infections (Clostridioides difficile and Helicobacter pylori).
Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for IBS, Helicobacter pylori, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis, though it appears ineffective for atopic disease (eczema, allergies). For the other ingredients and conditions listed — hay fever, cognitive function, depression — the evidence we hold is insufficient to rate them, meaning the science just isn't settled yet.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The live organisms in this product are generally well tolerated in healthy adults. That said, if you're seriously ill, hospitalized, or immunocompromised (your immune system is weakened), you should be cautious and talk to your doctor first.
In rare cases, these live bacteria and yeast have caused serious infections like bacteremia (bacteria in the bloodstream) or fungemia (yeast in the bloodstream), mainly in critically ill patients with central lines or on broad-spectrum antibiotics. Common mild side effects from the probiotics include gas, bloating, abdominal discomfort, and loose stool, though these are uncommon.
We don't have enough data on use during pregnancy or breastfeeding to say either way — talk to your doctor.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antibiotics (including those for infections), separate them from this product — ask your pharmacist for the right timing, since the antibiotics can kill the live beneficial organisms in the capsules. Antifungal medications (creams or pills for yeast or fungal infections) can also kill off the live yeast ingredient here, though this is a lower-level concern.
We couldn't check three of the other probiotic strains in the product, so bring your full medication list to your pharmacist to be sure.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Healthy Gut is a multi-strain probiotic that's possibly effective for several types of diarrhea and some gut conditions. It's generally well tolerated in healthy people, but if you take antibiotics or antifungals, timing matters — space them out so the probiotics aren't killed off.
If you're seriously ill or immunocompromised, check with your doctor first. Always run your medications through the checker on this page before you start.

Healthy Gut by Ombre Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Healthy Gut by Ombre contains live probiotic bacteria and yeast, and a couple of them do interact with medications.
The most serious interaction is with antibiotics: two of the live bacterial ingredients (Lactobacillus helveticus and Lactobacillus acidophilus) may lose effectiveness if you take them at the same time as antibiotics, since the antibiotics can kill off the beneficial organisms you're trying to introduce. We recommend spacing them apart — ask your pharmacist for specific timing.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Saccharomyces boulardii, a live yeast ingredient, has a minor interaction with antifungal medications (antifungals), which work the same way: they can kill the yeast before it does its job.
We could not check three other ingredients in this product (Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Enterococcus faecium, and Lactobacillus plantarum, and Bifidobacterium animalis lactis) because we don't hold interaction data for them. That doesn't mean they're risk-free — just that we haven't assessed them.
If you take any medications, run your full list through the checker below to see how your exact drugs stack up.
