HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Hempanol PM by North American Herb & Spice
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Hempanol PM combines five active ingredients in a proprietary blend. The product includes cinnamon essential oil, raw CO2-extracted hops, raw CO2-extracted chamomile, raw organic CO2-extracted wild oregano, and CO2-extracted raw hemp.
Each brings its own profile — cinnamon for warmth, hops and chamomile for relaxation support, oregano for traditional herbal use, and hemp seed for nutritional content. The capsule itself is made from BSE-free beef gelatin.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for what Hempanol PM can do is not established in the data we hold. Cinnamon, hops, oregano, and hemp have all been studied for various conditions — from blood sugar control to sleep support to respiratory health — but the effectiveness ratings in our records show insufficient reliable evidence for these uses.
This doesn't mean the product doesn't work; it means the studies we have access to haven't yet proven it for any specific purpose.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Cinnamon essential oil is generally safe in food amounts but may harm the liver over time at high supplement doses, especially because it contains coumarin. Food amounts are likely fine during pregnancy and breastfeeding, though avoid medicinal doses.
Hops may cause drowsiness and is generally well tolerated short-term, but long-term safety isn't well studied; avoid it during pregnancy due to insufficient safety data, and skip it while breastfeeding. Oregano is safe as a food but less studied at supplement strength; avoid medicinal amounts during pregnancy.
Hemp seed foods are generally well tolerated, though concentrated extracts and high-dose supplements are less studied. Rare cases of allergic reactions including anaphylaxis have been reported with hemp seed, and a single case of elevated liver enzymes was documented in a child given very high doses of hemp extract.
In one trial, cinnamon at 1 gram daily caused a rash in one person; contact dermatitis from oregano has also been reported in sensitive individuals.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking Hempanol PM, double-check with your own pharmacist or doctor if you use antidiabetes drugs (cinnamon, oregano, and hemp may lower blood sugar further), blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs like warfarin or aspirin (oregano and hemp may increase bleeding risk), sedative or CNS depressant medications (hops may add to drowsiness), hormone replacement therapy or estrogen products (hops and hemp may interfere), blood pressure medications (hemp may add to the effect), ACE inhibitors (hemp may add to blood pressure-lowering effects), or any drugs processed through your liver pathways — such as certain heart, anxiety, and cancer medications (hemp and hops may affect how your liver handles them).
The bottom line

For each ingredient in Hempanol PM with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Hemp, CO2 Extracted, Raw
Estrogens
Theoretically, hemp might interfere with hormone therapy due to its estrogenic effects.
In an ovariectomized animal model, a diet containing hemp seed 1%, 2%, or 10% resulted in normalized plasma levels of 17-beta-estradiol. The mechanism of action for this effect is unclear.
Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)
Theoretically, consuming hemp seed protein isolate with ACE inhibitors might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Hemp seed protein hydrolysate has shown ACE inhibitor-like effects in a hypertensive animal model. However, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans. Until more is known, monitor blood pressure and potassium levels.
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, hemp seed might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
In animal research, hemp seed at 5% of the diet inhibits platelet aggregation in vitro. However, in human research, taking hemp seed oil 2 grams daily for 12 weeks does not inhibit the aggregation of platelets in vitro.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, hemp seed protein may have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
In a hypertensive animal model, hemp seed protein hydrolysate reduced systolic blood pressure by a mechanism possibly involving the inhibition of renin and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activities. However, there was no effect of hemp seed protein on blood pressure in normotensive animals. Furthermore, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP1A2 enzymes.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP3A4 enzymes.
raw, CO2-extracted Hops
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, concomitant use of hops with sedative drugs might cause additive sedation.
Some animal research shows that hops has sedative effects.
Estrogens
Theoretically, concomitant use of large amounts of hops might interfere with hormone replacement therapy due to competition for estrogen receptors.
In vitro research suggests that certain hops constituents can competitively bind to estrogen receptors. However, most hops extracts contain very small amounts of these constituents.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Hops extract does not seem to affect the metabolism of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that flavonoid constituents of hops inhibit CYP1A2 enzyme activity. However, a pharmacokinetic study in healthy postmenopausal patients shows that taking a standardized extract of spent hops containing prenylated phenols, as 59.5 mg twice daily for 2 weeks, does not affect levels of caffeine, a CYP1A2 probe substrate.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, hops extract might alter metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates; however, this effect may not be clinically significant.
Animal research suggests that specific constituents of hops, called lupulones, can induce hepatic CYP3A4 enzyme activity. However, a pharmacokinetic study in healthy postmenopausal patients with normal metabolism shows that taking a standardized extract of spent hops containing prenylated phenols, as 59.5 mg twice daily for 2 weeks, decreases the concentration of alprazolam, a CYP3A4 probe substrate, by 7.6%. This reduction is unlikely to be clinically relevant.
Cinnamon essential Oil
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, cassia cinnamon may have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Cassia cinnamon may lower blood glucose levels, and have additive effects in patients treated with antidiabetic agents. Dose adjustments to diabetes medications might be necessary.
Hepatotoxic Drugs
Theoretically, large doses of cassia cinnamon might cause additive effects when used with hepatotoxic drugs.
There is some concern that ingesting large amounts of cassia cinnamon for an extended duration might cause hepatotoxicity in some people. Cassia cinnamon contains coumarin, which can cause hepatotoxicity in animal models. In humans, very high doses of coumarin from 50-7000 mg/day can result in hepatotoxicity that resolves when coumarin use is discontinued. Lower amounts might also cause liver problems in sensitive people, such as those with liver disease or those taking potentially hepatotoxic agents.
raw, organic, CO2-extracted wild Oregano
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, oregano might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro research shows that aristolochic acid isolated from oregano leaves has antithrombin activity. It has also been reported that oregano oil inhibits arachidonic acid-induced, and ADP-induced, platelet aggregation.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, oregano might increase the risk for hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
In vitro and animal research shows that oregano extracts might lower blood glucose levels.
