Hemp + Aspirin, Hydrocodone
Aspirin, Hydrocodone brand names: Alor 5 500, Lortab ASA.
Aspirin, Hydrocodone falls into 2 drug categories that Hemp can interact with; the most serious is rated minor. Theoretically, hemp seed might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Hemp interacts with whole categories of medication. Aspirin, Hydrocodone falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Hemp in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Minor).
ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
1 of 2Why this applies to Aspirin, Hydrocodone
Aspirin, Hydrocodone falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Hemp interacts with.
In animal research, hemp seed at 5% of the diet inhibits platelet aggregation in vitro. However, in human research, taking hemp seed oil 2 grams daily for 12 weeks does not inhibit the aggregation of platelets in vitro.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
The combo you're asking about pairs aspirin (a blood thinner that keeps platelets from clumping) with hydrocodone (an opioid pain reliever). The hemp concern here only touches the aspirin side. In theory, hemp seed could add a little to aspirin's blood-thinning effect, which might slightly raise the chance of bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding that's slower to stop.
Here's the reassuring part: this idea comes from lab and animal studies. In actual people, hemp seed oil at 2 grams a day for 12 weeks did not change how platelets behave. So the real-world risk looks small, especially with food amounts. Still, if you're using concentrated hemp supplements or notice easy bruising, give your pharmacist or doctor a quick call.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Aspirin, Hydrocodone also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP3A4 enzymes.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
This combo pill pairs aspirin with hydrocodone, an opioid pain reliever. Here's the angle worth knowing: hemp may gently speed up a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, which is one of the pathways that processes hydrocodone. In theory, a faster pathway could mean a bit less of the medication sticking around, so you might notice your pain relief feeling slightly weaker than usual.
That said, I want to keep this in perspective. This interaction comes only from lab and test-tube research, not real people, and it's rated as minor. Everyday hemp foods like seeds or oil are very unlikely to cause trouble. If you take concentrated hemp supplements regularly and your pain control changes, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor before adjusting anything.

Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Aspirin, Hydrocodone page
“Combining supplements with aspirin and hydrocodone (Lortab ASA, Alor 5 500) deserves real vigilance, because this medication carries two separate kinds of risk. Aspirin thins the blood, and by far the largest share of these interactions can add to that effect and raise bleeding risk.”

About Hemp
What is Hemp?
- Plant-based protein source
- Heart health support
- Skin and hair health
- Reducing inflammation
- General nutrition (omega fatty acids)
Hemp seeds and hemp seed oil are nutritious foods rich in protein, fiber, and healthy omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, and they are generally safe for most people as part of the diet. While the nutrition is real, strong human evidence that hemp supplements treat specific medical conditions is limited. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using hemp products for a health concern, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
