Annovera is a vaginal ring that releases two hormones, segesterone acetate (a progestin) and ethinyl estradiol (an estrogen), to prevent pregnancy. The concern here is that hemp may have mild estrogen-like activity of its own, which could in theory nudge how your body responds to the estrogen part of the ring.

I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. It comes from an animal study, not from people, and the way it works isn't even clear. There's no good proof that hemp seeds or hemp oil in normal food amounts will change how well your birth control works or cause more estrogen-type effects like nausea or breast tenderness. If you're using concentrated hemp supplements for a health reason, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first so they can keep an eye on things.

Annovera is a vaginal ring that releases two active hormones, segesterone acetate and ethinyl estradiol, to prevent pregnancy. Lab studies hint that hemp may speed up a liver enzyme called CYP1A2, which plays a part in clearing estrogen. If that happened in real life, your body might break down the hormones a little faster, which in theory could nudge their levels down.

Here is the important context: this concern comes only from test-tube research, not from people, and it is rated as minor. With Annovera, the hormones are absorbed steadily through the ring, so a small enzyme change is unlikely to cause noticeable problems like breakthrough bleeding. Eating hemp seeds as food is very unlikely to matter. If you use concentrated hemp supplements, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor for peace of mind.

Annovera is a vaginal ring that slowly releases two hormones, segesterone and ethinyl estradiol, to prevent pregnancy. Both of these hormones are broken down by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Some early lab research suggests hemp might nudge that enzyme to work a little faster. In theory, that could lower your hormone levels slightly and, at the far end, make the birth control a touch less reliable or cause more breakthrough spotting.

That said, this is a very weak, theoretical concern. It comes only from test-tube studies, not from people, and everyday hemp foods like hemp seeds or hemp oil are unlikely to matter. If you are using a concentrated hemp supplement, it is worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor for peace of mind.
