Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to help break down aripiprazole (Abilify). Some early lab research suggests hemp may speed that enzyme up a bit. If it did, your body might clear aripiprazole a little faster, which in theory could make it slightly less effective. For someone managing schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or depression, that might mean symptoms aren't as well controlled.

Here's the reassuring part: this is theoretical, based only on test-tube and animal data, not real people. Eating hemp seeds or hemp oil as food is very unlikely to cause any noticeable problem. If you're thinking about concentrated hemp supplements, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first so they can keep an eye on how you're doing.

Aripiprazole treats several mental health conditions. It is approved for schizophrenia, acute manic and mixed episodes of Bipolar I Disorder, and as an add-on to antidepressants for Major Depressive Disorder.
