Fenfluamine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Hemp interacts with.

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP1A2 enzymes.

Here's the gist for Fintepla (fenfluramine). Some lab studies suggest hemp may speed up a liver enzyme called CYP1A2, which is one of the enzymes that helps break this medicine down. If that enzyme works faster, your body could clear fenfluramine a little quicker, which in theory might make it slightly less effective. For a seizure medicine, that could mean a bit less seizure control.

I want to keep this in perspective, though. This concern comes only from test-tube research, not from real people, and it's rated as a minor, possible interaction. Everyday hemp foods like hemp seeds are very unlikely to cause trouble. Still, since seizure control matters so much, check with your pharmacist or neurologist before adding concentrated hemp supplements.

What Is Fenfluramine Used For?

Brand name: Fintepla

Fintepla (fenfluramine oral solution) is approved to treat seizures associated with Dravet syndrome (DS) and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) in patients 2 years of age and older. It is used alongside other antiseizure medications.

Both conditions are severe, often hard-to-control forms of epilepsy that typically begin in childhood. Fintepla is available only through a restricted program called the Fintepla REMS because of serious heart-related risks.
