Hemp + Estradiol, Progesterone
Estradiol, Progesterone brand name: Bijuvanda.
Estradiol, Progesterone falls into 3 drug categories that Hemp can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, hemp might interfere with hormone therapy due to its estrogenic effects.

These two interact in 3 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 3 Interactions?
Hemp interacts with whole categories of medication. Estradiol, Progesterone falls into 3 of those categories, so it can interact with Hemp in 3 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
ESTROGENS
1 of 3Why this applies to Estradiol, Progesterone
Estradiol, Progesterone falls under ESTROGENS — the group Hemp interacts with.
In an ovariectomized animal model, a diet containing hemp seed 1%, 2%, or 10% resulted in normalized plasma levels of 17-beta-estradiol. The mechanism of action for this effect is unclear.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
If you're taking Bijuva (estradiol and progesterone) for menopause symptoms, here's the honest picture on hemp. The concern is purely theoretical. In one animal study, hemp seed in the diet seemed to nudge natural estrogen levels back toward normal, but researchers couldn't explain how, and nobody knows if this happens in people. There is no good human evidence that hemp meaningfully changes how your hormone therapy works.
In plain terms: hemp might have a mild estrogen-like effect, which could in theory add to or subtly shift your hormone levels (think breast tenderness, bloating, or spotting). Eating hemp seeds or oil as food is very unlikely to matter. Before using concentrated hemp supplements, just check with your pharmacist or doctor.

CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES
2 of 3Estradiol, Progesterone also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP1A2 enzymes.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with Bijuva (estradiol and progesterone). Your body uses several liver enzymes to clear these hormones, and one of them is called CYP1A2. Lab studies suggest hemp may speed that enzyme up a bit, which in theory could clear estradiol a little faster and slightly soften its effect. For a hormone product, that might mean things like hot flashes or night sweats feeling a touch less controlled.
I want to be honest about how thin this is. The signal comes only from test-tube research, not from people, and it's rated a minor, possible interaction. Hemp seeds or oil eaten as food are very unlikely to matter. If you use concentrated hemp supplements regularly, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on how you're doing.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
3 of 3Estradiol, Progesterone also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP3A4 enzymes.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Your Bijuva combines estradiol and progesterone, and your liver clears both hormones largely through an enzyme called CYP3A4. The concern here is that hemp may gently speed that enzyme up. If it does, your body could break these hormones down a little faster, which in theory might soften their benefit. For some women that could mean menopause symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, or vaginal dryness creeping back, or possibly some breakthrough spotting.
I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. It comes only from lab studies, not real people, and the interaction is rated as minor. Everyday hemp seeds or hemp oil in food are very unlikely to matter. Still, if you use concentrated hemp supplements, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on how you feel.

About Hemp
What is Hemp?
- Plant-based protein source
- Heart health support
- Skin and hair health
- Reducing inflammation
- General nutrition (omega fatty acids)
Hemp seeds and hemp seed oil are nutritious foods rich in protein, fiber, and healthy omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, and they are generally safe for most people as part of the diet. While the nutrition is real, strong human evidence that hemp supplements treat specific medical conditions is limited. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using hemp products for a health concern, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
