Devil's Claw + Aripiprazole

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Aripiprazole
Aripiprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Devil's Claw interacts with.
In vitro research shows that devil's claw might inhibit CYP3A4, although this has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear aripiprazole (Abilify). In lab dish studies, devil's claw appeared to slow that enzyme down a bit. If that were to happen in real life, aripiprazole could build up a little higher than usual, which might mean stronger side effects like drowsiness, restlessness, dizziness, or feeling shaky.
Here's the reassuring part: this is only a theoretical concern based on test-tube research, and it has never actually been reported in people. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, because aripiprazole is an important medication for steadying mood and thinking, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding devil's claw, so they can keep an eye on how you feel.
