Betamethasone valerate falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Devil's Claw interacts with.

Theoretically, devil's claw might increase levels of P-glycoprotein substrates.
In vitro research shows that devil's claw inhibits P-glycoprotein, which transports many drugs out of cells. This might increase intracellular levels of P-glycoprotein substrates, although it is unclear if this effect would be clinically important.

Here's the good news first: this one is mostly theoretical, and it likely won't be a problem for you. The concern is that devil's claw might block a cellular pump called P-glycoprotein, which could in theory let drugs build up a bit inside cells. Betamethasone valerate (Luxiq) happens to be a foam you apply to your skin, not a pill you swallow, so very little reaches the rest of your body to begin with.

Because this comes only from lab studies and the drug is used topically, I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Just keep an eye out for extra skin thinning, irritation, or redness where you apply it. If you're using betamethasone over large areas or for a long stretch, mention the devil's claw to your pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Betamethasone Topical Used For?

Betamethasone topical is used to relieve the redness, swelling, and itching of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses (skin conditions that respond to steroid treatment). Sernivo Spray is specifically approved for plaque psoriasis of the body. Diprolene (topical cream, ointment, or gel) is indicated for inflammatory and itchy skin conditions in patients 13 years of age and older.

This medication is for use on the skin only. It is not approved for use on the face, groin, or underarms, and it is not for use in the eyes, mouth, or vagina.
