Devil's Claw + Apomorphine
Apomorphine brand names: Uprima, Apokyn, APO-go, APO-go Pen, APO-go PFS.
Devil's Claw has a minor interaction with Apomorphine. Theoretically, devil's claw might increase levels of P-glycoprotein substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Apomorphine
Apomorphine falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Devil's Claw interacts with.
In vitro research shows that devil's claw inhibits P-glycoprotein, which transports many drugs out of cells. This might increase intracellular levels of P-glycoprotein substrates, although it is unclear if this effect would be clinically important.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the situation with devil's claw and Apokyn (apomorphine). Apomorphine isn't a prodrug, so it works as soon as it's given. The concern on file is that, in test-tube studies, devil's claw seems to block a cellular pump called P-glycoprotein that helps move certain drugs out of cells. If that pump slows down, a little more of the drug could linger inside cells.
In plain terms, this could nudge apomorphine's effects and side effects up slightly, like more nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, or low blood pressure when you stand. But honestly, this is theoretical, based only on lab data, and rated minor, so it may not matter in real life. Still, since apomorphine is potent, mention the devil's claw to your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.
- AHigh-quality meta-analysis (quantitative systematic review).
- BCase-control study.
- CConsensus.
- DAnecdotal evidence.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Apomorphine page
“Apomorphine is often used as a rescue treatment for sudden "off" episodes in Parkinson's disease, which makes a reliable dose worth protecting, and this is a list to read with real care rather than skim. Of the 67 supplements and herbs on file, two carry a major rating: St.”

About Apomorphine Injection
What Is Apomorphine Injection Used For?
Brand names: Uprima, Apokyn, APO-go, APO-go Pen, APO-go PFS
Apomorphine Injection treats “off” episodes in advanced Parkinson's disease. These are periods of poor movement and stiffness, sometimes called hypomobility. They include “end-of-dose wearing off” and unpredictable “on/off” episodes.
It is used for acute, intermittent treatment, meaning as-needed treatment of episodes as they happen. It has been studied as an add-on to other Parkinson's medicines.
