Dabrafenib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Devil's Claw interacts with.

Theoretically, devil's claw might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that devil's claw might inhibit CYP3A4, although this has not been reported in humans.

Here's the simple version: your body uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear dabrafenib (Tafinlar) from your system. In lab tests, devil's claw appears to slow that same enzyme down a bit. If that happened in real life, dabrafenib could build up to higher levels than expected, which might mean more of its usual side effects, things like fever, joint pain, tiredness, skin rashes or skin changes, and headaches.

The honest caveat is that this is only based on test-tube research, not on actual people, so we don't truly know if it matters. Still, because dabrafenib is a serious cancer medicine, I'd play it safe. Please check with your oncology team or pharmacist before adding devil's claw, rather than starting or stopping anything on your own.

About Dabrafenib

What Is Dabrafenib Used For?

Brand name: Tafinlar

Dabrafenib is used to treat cancers that carry a specific change (mutation) in the BRAF gene — most often called a BRAF V600E or V600K mutation. These mutations cause cancer cells to grow out of control. Before starting this medicine, a tumor test must confirm the mutation is present.

It can be used alone or — more commonly — paired with another targeted drug, trametinib. Conditions it treats include advanced or inoperable melanoma (skin cancer), certain lung cancers, anaplastic thyroid cancer, low-grade brain tumors (glioma) in children, and other solid tumors with the same mutation that haven't responded to prior treatment.
