Here's the gist for Cotellic (cobimetinib): your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear this medication out. In lab studies, devil's claw appears to slow that same enzyme down a bit. If that happened in a real person, cobimetinib could build up higher than intended, which might mean more of its known side effects, things like skin rash, diarrhea, fatigue, vision changes, or muscle and liver issues that your cancer team already watches closely.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. This is only a theoretical concern from test-tube research, never actually confirmed in humans. Cobimetinib is a serious cancer drug, so please don't add devil's claw without first checking with your oncologist or pharmacist.

About Cobimetinib

What Is Cobimetinib Used For?

Brand name: Cotellic

Cobimetinib is approved for two uses in adults. First, it is used in combination with another drug called vemurafenib to treat melanoma (a type of skin cancer) that cannot be surgically removed or has spread to other parts of the body — but only when the tumor carries a specific genetic change called a BRAF V600E or V600K mutation. A lab test must confirm this mutation before treatment begins.

Second, cobimetinib can be used on its own (as a single agent) to treat adults with histiocytic neoplasms — a rare group of cancers involving immune cells called histiocytes.
