HMF Intensive 50 contains three live probiotic bacteria strains — Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis (CUL-34), Bifidobacterium bifidum (CUL-20), and Lactobacillus acidophilus (CUL-60 & CUL-21). These are beneficial microorganisms meant to support your digestive and immune health.
The capsule also contains several inactive ingredients — cellulose, sunflower lecithin, stearic acid, and silica — which serve as fillers, binders, and to keep the formula stable.

Evidence supports the use of these probiotics for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) — all three strains carry a 'Possibly Effective' rating for that condition. Bifidobacterium animalis lactis and Lactobacillus acidophilus are also rated Possibly Effective for respiratory tract infections and constipation.
Lactobacillus acidophilus has additional Possibly Effective evidence for Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis. For other conditions like allergic rhinitis, anxiety, and Alzheimer disease, the evidence in our data is not yet established.

How safe is it?
Well-documented data
All three probiotic strains in this product are generally well tolerated by most healthy adults and children. The most common side effect is diarrhea; bloating, flatulence, abdominal pain, and stomach discomfort have also been reported occasionally when taking probiotics.
In rare cases, vomiting, rash, or itching have occurred in clinical trials, though it's not always clear whether the probiotics alone caused them. Serious infections from probiotics are very rare and occur mostly in people with very weak immune systems.
Bifidobacterium bifidum is rated Possibly Safe in pregnancy; data on lactation are not on file for any of these strains. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, have a weakened immune system, or are critically ill, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.

Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
