HMF Intensive Powder Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Genestra Brands
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking HMF Intensive Powder against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of HMF Intensive Powder by Genestra Brands
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
HMF Intensive Powder contains 3 active probiotic ingredients: Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Bifidobacterium animalis lactis. These are live beneficial bacteria meant to support digestive and immune health.
The powder also contains potato maltodextrin as an inactive ingredient (a filler that helps hold the powder together).
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis. Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for IBS and respiratory tract infections.
For other conditions listed — such as allergic rhinitis, Alzheimer disease, and anxiety — the evidence we hold is insufficient to rate these bacteria's effectiveness. Neither ingredient has enough data for acute respiratory distress syndrome.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Both Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. Live probiotic products can occasionally cause mild gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, or diarrhea, though these are uncommon.
People with weakened immune systems should check with their doctor first. In rare cases, L. acidophilus has been linked to serious infections (bacteremia, sepsis, endocarditis) in vulnerable patients, though most such cases involved bacteria from elsewhere in the body.
There is no pregnancy or lactation safety data on file for any of these ingredients — talk with your doctor or pharmacist to decide if this product is right for you during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Antibiotic drugs are the main concern. Both Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum can lose effectiveness if you take them at the same time as antibiotics because the antibiotics kill the beneficial bacteria.
Separate them by a few hours — your pharmacist can help you schedule them.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This powder is a fit if you're looking for probiotics to support digestive health, particularly for IBS or diarrhea after antibiotics — just time it away from your antibiotics. People with compromised immunity should check with their doctor first.
Before you start, run your medications through the checker to make sure nothing you take will interfere with the live organisms in this product.
