What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains 1 active ingredient: hydroxocobalamin hydrochloride, a form of vitamin B12. B12 is an essential vitamin your body needs for nerve function, red blood cell formation, and DNA synthesis.
The tablet also contains several inactive ingredients—sorbitol, mannitol, natural cherry flavor, stearic acid, and magnesium stearate—which are excipients that help form and flavor the tablet.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Hydroxocobalamin is Effective for treating Imerslund-Grasbeck disease (a rare genetic condition affecting B12 absorption) and for correcting vitamin B12 deficiency. It is Likely Effective for cyanide poisoning, where B12 binds to cyanide and helps remove it from the body.
For canker sores and postherpetic neuralgia (nerve pain after shingles), the evidence is Possibly Effective—meaning there is some support but it is not conclusive.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Vitamin B12 is generally very well tolerated by mouth, and your body removes any excess through your urine, so there is no established upper safe limit. Allergic reactions like rash or itching are rare but can occur, and in very rare cases may be linked to a cobalt allergy.
B12 is safe and needed during pregnancy and breastfeeding at recommended amounts—follow your provider's guidance on dosing.
Meds to double-check
