What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Inositol 650 mg against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: inositol at 650 mg per capsule. Inositol is a naturally occurring compound related to the B vitamins that plays a role in cell signaling and glucose metabolism.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients (gelatin, cellulose, silica, and magnesium stearate) that serve as a binder and filler.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
Inositol is possibly effective for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and metabolic syndrome. It's also possibly effective for reducing the risk of preterm labor in pregnancy.
For anxiety, diabetic neuropathy, and depression, the evidence we hold rates inositol as possibly ineffective, meaning the data doesn't support its use for these conditions.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Inositol is generally well tolerated at typical doses. The most common side effects when taken by mouth are diarrhea, gas, and nausea—all mild and digestive in nature.
In one case report, inositol combined with other ingredients in an energy drink was linked to manic symptoms in someone with bipolar disorder, though it's unclear whether inositol alone was responsible. There isn't enough reliable safety data in pregnancy, so use only under medical supervision if you're pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
There's also insufficient information on breastfeeding—talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized guidance.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antidiabetes drugs (insulin, metformin, glipizide, or similar), double-check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting inositol. It can lower blood sugar and increase the risk of hypoglycemia when combined with these medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Inositol may be worth considering if you have PCOS, metabolic syndrome, or are at risk of preterm labor. If you take any diabetes medication, check with us or your doctor first—inositol can lower blood sugar and may need dose adjustment.
Start with your pharmacist if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or have bipolar disorder.
