Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

Lake Avenue Nutrition's Inositol Powder contains one active ingredient: inositol, a naturally occurring compound that your body makes and that's found in foods like beans, grains, and nuts. Inositol appears to play a role in how your cells respond to insulin and may influence hormonal signaling.

The product contains no other inactive ingredients.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

We hold no graded evidence for this product's ingredients for its stated purpose.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: Supports cellular health.
  • Our graded evidence for these ingredients doesn't cover that particular purpose.

The evidence suggests inositol may help with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), metabolic syndrome, and preterm labor—all rated possibly effective based on the research we hold. However, the data doesn't support its use for anxiety, diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage from diabetes), or depression; those are rated possibly ineffective.

If you're considering it for one of those conditions, talk it over with your doctor to see if the current evidence fits your situation.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Inositol is generally well tolerated at common doses. The most common side effects are mild digestive ones: diarrhea, gas, and nausea.

There's also one case report of a man on stable bipolar medication who developed mania symptoms after consuming multiple energy drinks containing inositol along with caffeine, taurine, and other ingredients over a few days—it's unclear whether inositol alone was responsible. For pregnancy, the safety data is incomplete, so it's been studied sometimes but use only under medical supervision.

For breastfeeding, there isn't enough reliable information on file, so check with your doctor or pharmacist before using it.

Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Inositol.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 86 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

If you're on any antidiabetes medication—insulin, metformin, or any other type—check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product. Inositol can lower blood sugar, and combining it with your diabetes drug may push your levels too low.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

Inositol may be worth considering if you have PCOS, metabolic syndrome, or a high risk of preterm labor and want to explore a supplement option. If you take any diabetes medication, you'll need to check with your doctor first because of the low blood sugar risk.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, or bipolar disorder all warrant a conversation with your healthcare provider before you start.

Inositol Powder by Lake Avenue Nutrition: Common Questions

Does Inositol Powder by Lake Avenue Nutrition interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Inositol Powder has a known interaction with 86 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Inositol Powder contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take this if I'm pregnant?
The safety data for inositol in pregnancy is incomplete. It's been studied sometimes, but there isn't enough reliable information to know for sure either way. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using it in pregnancy—they can weigh the potential benefits and risks for your specific situation.
What are the side effects?
Most side effects are mild and digestive: diarrhea, gas, and nausea. Inositol is generally well tolerated overall. One uncommon case linked inositol in an energy drink to mania symptoms in someone with bipolar disorder, but it's unclear if inositol alone was responsible since the drink had caffeine, taurine, and other ingredients too.
Does inositol actually work for PCOS?
The evidence shows inositol is possibly effective for PCOS. It's also possibly effective for metabolic syndrome and preterm labor. For other conditions like anxiety or depression, the research doesn't support it—those are rated possibly ineffective.
Can I take this with my diabetes medication?
You need to talk with your doctor or pharmacist first. Inositol lowers blood sugar, and using it alongside diabetes drugs (insulin, metformin, or others) could theoretically push your blood sugar too low. They can help decide if it's right for you and monitor your levels if you do take it.
Is this powder a complete product, or does it have fillers?
This is a straightforward single-ingredient product—it's just inositol with no added fillers, binders, or other inactive ingredients.
Can I take this while breastfeeding?
