HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Kids Quick Melt Probiotic Sticks Giddy Grape by OLLY
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This powder stick contains three active probiotic ingredients: Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium animalis lactis, and Lactobacillus rhamnosus. These are live, beneficial bacteria designed to support gut health.
The product also contains several inactive ingredients for texture and flavoring, including xylitol, gum arabic, malic acid, citric acid, silica, natural flavors, spirulina extract, and beet.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis. The same ingredient is possibly ineffective for atopic disease, and we don't have enough reliable evidence to rate it for acute respiratory distress syndrome.
The effectiveness data for the other two probiotic strains in this product aren't on file with us.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy children. Gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, gas, stomach discomfort, or diarrhea can happen when combining L. acidophilus with other probiotics, but these are uncommon.
In rare cases, L. acidophilus has been associated with serious infections in certain patients, though most documented cases involved bacteria that may have moved from elsewhere in the body rather than the probiotic itself. Because data are limited, check with your doctor before use.
For pregnancy and breastfeeding, we hold safety data only for Lactobacillus acidophilus, which is rated possibly safe in pregnancy; we have no data on file for the other ingredients.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If your child takes antibiotics, time the probiotic and antibiotic doses separately — antibiotics can interfere with how well L. acidophilus works in this product. We could not check Bifidobacterium animalis lactis or Lactobacillus rhamnosus for medication interactions because we hold no data on them, so mention all ingredients to your pharmacist.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a three-strain probiotic for kids that may help with digestive and gut-health concerns, though the evidence is strongest for specific conditions like antibiotic-associated diarrhea and IBS. If your child takes antibiotics, space out the probiotic doses and talk to your pharmacist about timing.
Before you start, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether it's right for your child's health situation.

Lactobacillus acidophilus
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
