Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

Herbadiet L-Tyrosine is a single-ingredient supplement — just one active ingredient, the amino acid L-tyrosine, in a vegetable cellulose capsule shell. L-tyrosine is a compound your body naturally makes and uses to produce neurotransmitters (brain chemicals) and thyroid hormones.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Moderate

Some clinical evidence supports this product's ingredients for its stated purpose, but it isn't conclusive.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: supports healthy glandular function and alertness.
  • We looked for evidence on: Stress, Fatigue, Sleep deprivation, Athletic performance, Cognitive function, Mental focus — and 1 related terms.
  • The strongest evidence on file: Tyrosine is rated "Possibly Effective" for Cognitive function (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Tyrosine is rated "Possibly Ineffective" for Athletic performance.
  • Also on file: Tyrosine is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Fatigue, Sleep deprivation, Stress.

L-tyrosine is effective for phenylketonuria (PKU), a rare metabolic condition. It's possibly effective for cognitive function and memory — the evidence suggests it may help, but more research would strengthen that claim.

For athletic performance, the evidence points toward it being ineffective. For alcohol use disorder and dementia, we don't yet have reliable evidence to rate whether it works.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

L-tyrosine is generally well tolerated in healthy adults, but you should talk with your doctor or pharmacist before you start taking it regularly. The most common side effects reported are fatigue, headache, heartburn, and nausea.

Higher doses and certain combinations with other supplements can increase fatigue, headache, and digestive upset, though lowering the dose usually helps. There isn't enough safety data on L-tyrosine in pregnancy or while breastfeeding, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing.

Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Tyrosine.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: Parkinson's medications.
  • For scale: 21 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this if you're on levodopa (for Parkinson's disease) — tyrosine may lower its effectiveness, and you'd need to space the doses at least 2 hours apart. Also watch for thyroid hormone medications (like levothyroxine), which could have additive effects with the tyrosine you're supplementing.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

L-tyrosine may help support cognitive function and memory, and it's the established choice for PKU. If you take levodopa or thyroid hormones, check your exact medications before you start — the two ingredient types can interact.

If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or thinking about it, or if you have questions about regular use, talk with your doctor or pharmacist first.

L-Tyrosine by Herbadiet: Common Questions

Does L-Tyrosine by Herbadiet interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, L-Tyrosine has a known interaction with 21 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
L-Tyrosine contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
What does L-tyrosine actually do in my body?
L-tyrosine is an amino acid your body uses to make neurotransmitters — brain chemicals that affect mood and focus — and thyroid hormones that regulate your metabolism. You naturally get some tyrosine from protein-rich foods, and this supplement gives you extra.
Will this help me think more clearly and remember better?
L-tyrosine is possibly effective for cognitive function and memory, which means the evidence leans toward it helping, but we'd need more research to be sure. Results may vary from person to person.
What side effects might I notice?
Most common are fatigue, headache, heartburn, and nausea. These tend to be mild, but if you're taking a higher dose or combining this with other supplements, those effects can get stronger. Lowering your dose usually helps.
Can I take this while I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
There isn't enough safety data to know either way. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist — they can give you personalized advice based on your situation.
Why does the label say to talk to a healthcare provider before regular use?
L-tyrosine overall is well tolerated, but the safety data isn't complete. A healthcare provider can help decide if regular use is right for you and watch for any issues.
