HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Liposomal DIM Liquid by Pure Encapsulations
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This liquid contains one active ingredient: diindolylmethane (DIM), a compound found naturally in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and cabbage. The inactive ingredients are glycerin, water, ethanol, medium chain triglyceride, vitamin E, phospholipids, and natural mixed tocopherols—the last of which is a delivery system (liposomal form) designed to help your body absorb the DIM more readily.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for diindolylmethane isn't established for the conditions it's marketed for. Our data shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for benign prostatic hyperplasia, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, cervical dysplasia, or mastalgia (breast pain).
That doesn't mean it doesn't work—it means the research hasn't yet proven whether it does.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Diindolylmethane is generally well tolerated in short-term studies, though long-term safety isn't well established. The most common side effects are diarrhea, gas, headache, nausea, rash, and vomiting.
A rare serious reaction called DRESS (drug rash with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms) has been reported. One case of stroke was reported in someone taking DIM, but the person had other major risk factors, and it's unclear whether DIM played a role.
Because of possible effects on hormones and limited safety data, this product is best avoided during pregnancy. There is not enough safety information available to use it while breastfeeding—talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you in those situations.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take estrogens (birth control pills, hormone replacement therapy), water pills (diuretics), or any medication metabolized through the liver enzyme CYP1A2. Diindolylmethane may change how these drugs work.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Liposomal DIM Liquid works best for people curious about a plant-derived supplement for hormonal support, but be careful if you take birth control, hormone replacement therapy, or water pills—these need to be discussed with your healthcare provider first. Long-term safety is not yet established, and the evidence for its intended uses hasn't been proven.
Talk it over with your own doctor or pharmacist before adding it to your routine.

Liposomal DIM Liquid by Pure Encapsulations Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Liposomal DIM Liquid from Pure Encapsulations contains diindolylmethane, which does interact with certain medications.
The most serious concern is with estrogens (including birth control pills and hormone replacement therapy), where diindolylmethane might increase or decrease their effects—something that could affect how well your hormone therapy works.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Diindolylmethane also interacts moderately with water pills (diuretics that lower sodium). Large doses have been linked to low blood sodium levels (hyponatremia) in a small number of people, and combining this supplement with sodium-depleting diuretics could raise that risk further.
Additionally, it may lower blood levels of certain medications metabolized through a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 (a minor interaction), though this hasn't been documented in humans yet.
AltogetherInternet, these interactions span 269 individual medications. Before starting this supplement, use the medication checker below or talk with your pharmacist or doctor—especially if you take hormone therapy, water pills, or any prescription drug you rely on.

Diindolylmethane
Diuretic Drugs
Theoretically, diindolylmethane might increase the risk of hyponatremia if used with sodium-depleting diuretics.
Large doses of diindolylmethane (600 mg daily) have been associated with two cases of asymptomatic hyponatremia in clinical research.
Estrogens
Theoretically, diindolylmethane might increase or decrease the effects of estrogens.
Diindolylmethane might have mild estrogenic or antiestrogenic effects. Theoretically, large amounts of diindolylmethane might interfere with hormone replacement therapy.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, diindolylmethane might lower serum levels of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro evidence suggests that diindolylmethane can induce CYP1A2. Theoretically, it might increase metabolism of CYP1A2 substrates and lower serum concentrations. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
