What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: lycopene, delivered as LycoBeads S Beadlets at 30 mg per capsule. Lycopene is a red pigment found naturally in tomatoes, watermelon, and pink grapefruit.
The capsule also contains acacia gum and white rice bran as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Lycopene is possibly effective for prostate cancer according to the evidence we hold. For bladder cancer and diabetes, the available data suggests it's possibly ineffective.
For high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), exercise-induced asthma, and ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), there isn't enough reliable evidence yet to know whether it works.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lycopene from food is considered safe, and supplement doses are generally well tolerated. Some people report gastrointestinal side effects with lycopene supplements — diarrhea, gas, bloating, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, or loss of appetite — though they're not universal.
Supplement doses of lycopene are not well studied in pregnancy, so the data advises against using supplements unless your doctor recommends it; food amounts are fine. There isn't enough safety data on supplements while breastfeeding — talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether this dose is right for you.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs — such as warfarin, apixaban, clopidogrel, or aspirin for heart protection — double-check with your pharmacist before adding lycopene. It may increase bleeding risk (Moderate severity).
No other interaction types are documented for the ingredients we could check.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Lycopene may help with prostate cancer support, but the evidence for other conditions is weak or absent. If you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs, check with your pharmacist first.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding require a conversation with your doctor before starting a supplement.
