Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: lycopene, a natural red pigment found in tomatoes and other fruits. The capsule also holds several inactive ingredients—beet powder, microcrystalline cellulose (a binder), magnesium stearate, rice powder, and gelatin—that help form and fill the capsule.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Lycopene is possibly effective for prostate cancer based on available evidence. For bladder cancer, diabetes, high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), and exercise-induced asthma, the evidence is either possibly ineffective or too thin for us to rate it either way.
If you're considering lycopene for one of these conditions, talk with your doctor about what the research actually supports for your situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lycopene from food is considered generally well tolerated, and supplement doses are generally well tolerated too. The most common side effects from supplements are gastrointestinal—diarrhea, gas, bloating, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, and loss of appetite.
One case of chest pain was reported in a pregnant woman taking a different lycopene product, though it's unclear whether lycopene caused it. For pregnancy: supplements aren't well studied, so the safety data advises avoiding them unless your doctor says otherwise.
For breastfeeding: there isn't enough data on supplement safety, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs—warfarin, clopidogrel, aspirin daily, or similar—double-check them with the medication checker on this page before starting. Lycopene may theoretically increase bleeding risk with these drugs.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Lycopene 50 mg is generally well tolerated and possibly helpful for prostate cancer. The main caution is if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs—check your exact medications with the tool on this page first.
Otherwise, talk with your pharmacist if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or have any other questions about whether it fits your health plan.

Although lab studies show this effect, we don't have large real-world data on how often it actually causes problems at this dose. Still, if you take warfarin, clopidogrel, aspirin daily, or any other blood thinner or antiplatelet medication, you'll want to run those through the medication checker on this page before starting lycopene.
Altogether, these interactions span 122 individual medications. No other drug types are documented to interact with lycopene in our data.
