Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This supplement contains one active ingredient: mangosteen, a tropical fruit extract, at 475 mg per capsule. The product also includes two inactive ingredients — vegetable cellulose for the capsule itself and an organic rice extract blend — which are fillers and binders that hold the supplement together.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Mangosteen has possibly effective evidence for periodontitis (gum disease). For other uses — androgenic alopecia (male-pattern hair loss), Alzheimer's disease, and atopic dermatitis (eczema) — the evidence we have isn't strong enough to rate whether it works.
If you're considering it for one of those conditions, the data just isn't settled yet.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Mangosteen is generally well tolerated as a food, but long-term safety of concentrated supplements like this one hasn't been thoroughly studied. In trials at doses up to 560 mg daily, some participants reported mild tiredness, headache, dizziness, malaise, constipation, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dry throat, and flu-like symptoms — though it's unclear whether mangosteen itself caused them.
During pregnancy, the safety data advises against supplement amounts of mangosteen. The same applies while breastfeeding.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized guidance if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin, clopidogrel, or aspirin) — mangosteen may increase bleeding risk. Also flag it if you take donepezil (Aricept) for Alzheimer's disease.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Mangosteen may be worth considering if you have gum disease, though the evidence is modest. If you take blood thinners or donepezil, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting it — the interaction risk is real.
For other uses, the evidence isn't yet strong enough to know if it helps. Either way, a chat with your own healthcare provider beforehand is a good idea.

Mangosteen
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of mangosteen with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs may increase the risk of bleeding.
In vitro and animal research shows that gamma-mangostin, a constituent of mangosteen, is a potent and competitive antagonist of the serotonin 2A (5-HT2A) receptor. Antagonism of the 5-HT2A receptor is believed to reduce platelet aggregation.
Donepezil (Aricept)
Theoretically, concomitant use of mangosteen with donepezil might increase the effects of donepezil.
Animal research shows that concomitant use of an aqueous extract of mangosteen pericarp with donepezil increases brain concentrations of donepezil at 4 hours by 64% without associated effects on systemic exposure.
