Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: mangosteen fruit extract. Mangosteen is a tropical fruit whose pericarp (the rind) has been used in traditional medicine and studied for potential benefits in dental health and other conditions.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Mangosteen extract is possibly effective for periodontitis (gum disease). For androgenic alopecia (male-pattern baldness), Alzheimer's disease, and atopic dermatitis (eczema), the evidence isn't established enough in the data we hold to say whether it works.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Mangosteen is generally considered safe as a whole food, but long-term safety of concentrated supplement amounts isn't well studied. In trials at doses up to 560 mg daily, some people reported mild tiredness, headache, dizziness, malaise, and various digestive complaints — constipation, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, and bloating.
Dry throat, flu-like symptoms, cough, and nasal congestion were also reported. It's unclear whether these were caused by mangosteen.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, there isn't enough safety information. The safety data advises against supplement amounts during these times — talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this product, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel) — mangosteen may increase bleeding risk. Also check if you take donepezil (Aricept), as mangosteen may increase its effects.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Mangosteen extract may help with gum disease, but the evidence for other uses is unclear. If you take blood thinners, aspirin, or donepezil, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting it.
A small number of people reported tiredness, digestive upset, and cold-like symptoms in trials, though it's uncertain whether mangosteen caused them. Talk it over with your own healthcare provider to see if it fits your situation.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Mangosteen Extract by BulkSupplements.com does interact with some medications.
The main concern is with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (medications that reduce clotting). Mangosteen may theoretically increase bleeding risk when used alongside these — an effect that appears to come from one of its active compounds, gamma-mangostin, which can interfere with platelet function.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
There's also a minor interaction with donepezil (Aricept), a medication for Alzheimer's disease. Animal research suggests mangosteen may boost the amount of donepezil that reaches the brain, which could strengthen its effects.
Altogether, these interactions span 125 individual medications. Before you start this product, run your exact medications through the checker below — especially if you take any blood thinners, aspirin, or drugs for memory or clotting problems.

Mangosteen Fruit Extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of mangosteen with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs may increase the risk of bleeding.
In vitro and animal research shows that gamma-mangostin, a constituent of mangosteen, is a potent and competitive antagonist of the serotonin 2A (5-HT2A) receptor. Antagonism of the 5-HT2A receptor is believed to reduce platelet aggregation.
Donepezil (Aricept)
Theoretically, concomitant use of mangosteen with donepezil might increase the effects of donepezil.
Animal research shows that concomitant use of an aqueous extract of mangosteen pericarp with donepezil increases brain concentrations of donepezil at 4 hours by 64% without associated effects on systemic exposure.
