What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Motherwort against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: Motherwort Extract. Motherwort is a traditional herbal remedy that's been used to support several different health needs.
The liquid also contains water, ethanol (alcohol), stevia, potassium sorbate, and peppermint oil as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for motherwort varies by condition. It's possibly effective for bleeding — that's the strongest rating we hold.
For anxiety, alcohol use disorder, amenorrhea, and asthma, the evidence isn't established well enough to rate it reliably. If you're considering motherwort for one of those conditions, talk with your pharmacist about what the research actually shows.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Motherwort is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth, though human safety data are limited overall. The most common side effects are diarrhea and stomach irritation.
At higher doses — more than 3 grams — it can cause uterine bleeding. The safety data advises against motherwort in pregnancy because it's traditionally thought to stimulate the uterus, and not enough safety information exists for breastfeeding, so it's best avoided during that time as well.
If you apply motherwort to skin, contact dermatitis and sensitivity to sunlight (photosensitivity) have been reported.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking Motherwort Extract by Absonutrix, check any CNS depressants you're on — that includes sedatives, sleep aids, anxiety medications, and certain pain relievers. These drugs may cause extra drowsiness when combined with motherwort.
Use the medication checker on this page to verify your exact prescriptions.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Motherwort may be worth considering if you're looking into herbal support for bleeding, but the evidence is limited for most other uses. If you take any medication that makes you drowsy or sedated, check it against this product first — motherwort can increase that effect.
Pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers should avoid it. Always talk with your pharmacist before adding it to your routine.
