HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Multi-Strain Probiotic 20B by BioTe Medical
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product has 4 active probiotic strains: Lactobacillus acidophilus (NCFM), Lactobacillus paracasei (Lpc-37), Bifidobacterium lactis (Bl-04), and Bifidobacterium lactis (Bi-07). These are live, beneficial bacteria meant to support gut health and balance.
The rest is inactive ingredients — cellulose, hypromellose, calcium laurate, and silicon dioxide — that help form and stabilize the capsule.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The data we have covers Lactobacillus acidophilus. It's rated possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
For other uses like atopic disease, the evidence suggests it's possibly ineffective, and for acute respiratory distress syndrome, we don't have enough reliable evidence to rate it. The effectiveness of the other three strains in this blend isn't established in the data we hold.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. Mild gastrointestinal side effects — like stomach discomfort, bloating, flatulence, or diarrhea — can occur when you take it with other probiotics, but these are uncommon.
Because this product contains live organisms, there's a theoretical concern it could cause infection in some people, though most documented cases happened in patients with other conditions. Rare rashes have been reported in trials, though it's unclear which ingredient caused them.
Since data are limited overall, check with your doctor before starting.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you're taking antibiotic drugs, separate them from this probiotic by a few hours so the antibiotics don't kill off the live organisms. We could not check three of the four strains in this product for medication interactions, so use the search tool below with your specific medications to be thorough.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you have IBS, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, or certain bacterial infections, this probiotic may help — talk to your pharmacist about which strain might fit your situation. Hold off if you're taking antibiotics at the same time; space them out instead.
Anyone with a weakened immune system should check with their doctor first.

Multi-Strain Probiotic 20B by BioTe Medical Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Multi-Strain Probiotic 20B by BioTe Medical contains four active probiotic strains, and we've found documented interactions for one of them.
Lactobacillus acidophilus (NCFM) may reduce its own effectiveness when taken at the same time as antibiotic drugs — antibiotics can kill the live organisms in the probiotic, so separating the doses helps both work better.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
We could not check the other three ingredients in this product — Bifidobacterium lactis (Bl-04), Lactobacillus paracasei (Lpc-37), and Bifidobacterium lactis (Bi-07) — because we hold no interaction data for them. Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
Before you start this product, use the checker below to search your exact medications. If you take antibiotics, talk with us about timing — spacing them out can make both your antibiotic and the probiotic more effective.

Lactobacillus acidophilus (NCFM)
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
